This is a media streaming PC, not for gaming at all.

Here is the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] , I do not mind the price. Just need an honest opinion.

Mind as well add a list here.

CPU - AMD Phenom II X2 555 Black 3.2GHz Dual-Core Processor
CPU Cooler - Deepcool CAPTAIN 120 EX 76.5 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
RAM - G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2400 Memory
SSD - Sandisk SSD PLUS 120GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
HDD - Western Digital Caviar Blue 320GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (x3)
GPU - Asus Radeon RX 470 4GB STRIX Video Card
Case - NZXT S340 (Black/Red) ATX Mid Tower Case
PSU - EVGA SuperNOVA NEX 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply
Network adapter - TP-Link TG-3468 PCI-Express x1 10/100/1000 Mbps Network Adapter
Case fans - Thermaltake Pure 12 LED 41.0 CFM 120mm Fan (x2)

yes it is a low grade CPU, but as I said it is for media.

The GPU may be a little overkill ..?

I know I have multiple drives, then again the case supports five mounts. yes they low capacity, they are going to be setup in a simple raid config. I went with a rather cheap SSD, but I have the same model in an old laptop.

For the RAM just went with something simple. 8GB isn't much but it isn't full on overkill, if needed I could upgrade.

The case was something that fit the specs of where it will be sitting + matches the color scheme. I know that the USB 3.0 ports on the case will not be supported on the MB, that isn't much of an issue for me as I likely will not use them, if i do i can just use the back ports on the MB.

PSU is a bit high I guess, but that isn't much of an issue either, would be useful if I ever decided to add another card for crossfire.

Network adapter was something cheap, if anything I will use the on-board port.

I got two 120mm CFM LED fans, just to light the system up some, and give an airflow through the top of the casing. I didn't necessarily need the CPU cooler, but it was within budget and fits quite well.

It has been awhile since I have started a basic build and this is just for media, a bit overkill?

I do not need a keyboard, mouse or a monitor. So that was out of the question from the start.

This will be running ubuntu 14.04 for low memory usage in general.

Give it an honest rate

This is all over the place. Old ass CPU, makes zero sense. You don't need a high end CPU, sure, but at least buy something newer. The RX 470 is unnecessary, iGPU would be fine for you if you're not gaming, so crossfire is definitely pointless. The PSU is horrible quality. The case only supports 3 x 3.5" drives, not 5. Using up all of your 3.5" bays with 320GB HDDs isn't smart IMO.

It's a bit cheaper, and will be much better. Much better, newer CPU and newer socket so more up to date features, such as m.2 support, PCIe 3.0, DDR4 RAM, etc. 8GB RAM is probably more than enough but 8GB sticks are so cheap these days, you may as well just get 8GB. Any more would be a total waste of money though. If you don't care so much about power, you can save $20-30 and get an i3-6100 instead of the 6100T, or you could even get away with a Pentium G4400 for around $60. You can save $20 and just use the stock cooler if you want, but the Cryorig M9i will improve temperatures, acoustics, and aesthetics. 240GB SSD should be fine, and a couple of 2TB HDDs for whatever RAID array you wish to run. I included a case with a decent number of 3.5" bays(8) and a side window. The S340 is a more premium case, but it's not really useful in this scenario IMO. Also, the Eclipse P400 would be a better purchase than the S340 anyway. Use the fan in the rear as exhaust. Buy an LED strip or an NZXT Hue+ if you want LEDs.
