I tried resetting my HP laptop and now it's giving me a message saying an operating system wasn't found a try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system The reset also failed so any help would be much appreciated I cannot use the computer at all right now

Well, something interrupted the reset, cleaning the disk... But not reinstalling Windows back on it... I can only suggest that you "Go pay full price at a store for the windows disk" or PM me...

Make either a bootable USB Brive with your OS on there and use it on boot up. Or use the windows disk and re-install

Did you have any infections of sort?

also it may be registry none the less, could be as simple as getting a repair key, or just buy a new copy of windows*

I was going to say this. Just mount it on a USB or disc and see if you can re-install.

Every PC should have come with the windows download disk.
If not, your key should be on the bottom where you can get the image online and mount it to USB or a disk

Use Startup Repair with installation media for your OS

OEM PCs will have your key on a sticker if you need it. It is sometimes under the battery.
