Just got a matchmaking error and it says ea services were down damn hella people on same for my friend

As today is the release date for many other without the preorder of the game, there is possibly too much traffic for there to be people playing it at the moment. Possible DDoS attack as well because Twitter is unavailable too. Not too sure if there is a connection between the two.

Could the ddos or heavy traffic be the reason why my game won't start? I downloaded 2 times, it takes me to the screen with that guy then a black screen. After it kicks me to the home screen and says it taking longer than usual
