Hello, i dont post much and dont know if this is the correct place to ask about this topic but i am genuinely stuck.
This weekend i had a couple of friends over as my parents were away (4 to be exact) we were drinking doing the usual. It got late i went to bed, 3 of my friends stayed awake and went out into my local town for a walk. On this walk they commited a few crimes (not going to name what they did).
I have suspicion that a few people in my town suspect i partook in what happened, i am also worried the police will get involved and i will get in trouble for something i didnt even do.

If the police did come to ask me about this incident i ament one to snitch/grass on friends, so what would i say? There is also no proof of what was done (CCTV/Witnesses etc) i wouldnt want to lie to the police either. I have read about what the police do in these situations and if they believe you commited the crime then they can pess chargers.
This worries me as i am currently at the age of applying for jobs/college/university etc and wouldnt want this to change anythhing for me.
I know i sound like a wimp or whatever but i cant get it off my mind and want to know what to do.

I'd honestly just tell them you didn't do anything.

Unless they have reasonable suspicion they can't arrest you (uk laws)

Are you from the US?

This is where you need to step up and contact the police or whomever and let them know who it was and you were not part of any crime. Let them know that they were at your house but you fell asleep . Don't be afraid to snitch. You're not wanting to back your friends up and you end up getting in trouble. Don't risk ruining your life just to back up your temporary buddies.

Thats the way i was thinking and it went off my mind for a while and i thought about it again, and it really seems like people are confident i was involved.
Im from Scotland, UK.

Unless it was a serious crime I don't get how you could be involved or link towards a crime? If people think that you've done then maybe you'd get asked a few questions THATS IT. Police can't just arrest and charge you unless they have reasonable suspicion you committed an offense.

Can you not tell us in vague what offense was committed?

Tell them you werent involved u dont need to snitch if there is no proof of you actually being there.

In the US you're guilty until proven innocent, so basically if you're suspected of something, you're screwed.

All you can do is tell the truth. Don't hand out info, but don't lie. For example, a cop asks "on the night of X did you....?" You just say yes or no. You don't say "yeah, I did it with....".

Don't you mean innocent until proven guilty?

If you didn't do anything - you're fine. You don't need to worry about anything. Just tell the truth if anything arises.

I'm from London, UK and I have 2 criminal records because of stupid shit done on the street. Not sure about Scotland but in London there's loads of cameras. If it's something serious that police think it's worth dealing with they will knock on the door or send you a letter. If it's something like smoking bit of weed, I highly doubt they will try to get anyone.

Just don't worry about it. What's done that done now. Next time think of the consequences before actions

EDIT: If they do talk to you just deny everything, make up a story and stick to it. Do not admit anything.
