So a lot of you know I'm a truck guy and I threw away my manhood to buy a car. Well, the itch is still there, I still want a truck, and right now I've got an opportunity. I can buy my uncles 1977 Ford F-250 highboy for 6k (3k from me and 3k from my dad), or put that money in my dads 1979 Ford Bronco. The highboy has an almost new engine and tranny, built like a beast, and the Bronco has the 351M bored out to a 400 with a rebuilt C6 trans. It'll probably take a lot more than 6k to get the Bronco in the condition that the F-250 is in, however you never see these Broncos as they were only made in 1978-79 (this body style).

What would you do? Put the cash into a project Bronco, or buy a running F-250 with a few issues (oil leaks and such).

Definitely the Bronco, straight up.
Putting work into cars/trucks is what makes it that more special.

I'd say the F-250 because the Bronco is iconic, and rare realistically you will never get it done. Like you said it was your Dad's, he probably had plans to rebuild it but he never got to it because life gets in the way. Go with something that you can benefit from now because you will have a lot of headaches with the Bronco and potentially get sick of fixing it up. Just a thought, good luck!

Well guys, I think right now I'm going to go with the F-250. We all work out of state so fixing up the Bronco would be a long process and probably a waste of money. Not to mention we don't know very much about restoring vehicles so it'd be shipping it off to a mechanic and I just think for the money, the F-250 is a better value. Maybe later on down the road we'll get the Bronco up and running.
