When you see your laser lens first time, just try not to put too much pressure on it - most videos will tell you to clean it with a cotton wool bud (Q tip/cotton swab), whilst you can use these - you will need to be very light on touch (don't twist it to clean just rub down lightly), this will clean your laser lens without scratching if done correctly.

There are special cleaning agents you can use for this, but for the life of me can't remember their names. I would also avoid using laser lends disks too, since the bit that clean on them is usualy stapled! into disks using special kinds of staples. (where im from (uk) anyways)
