Right now Valve seems to be in some seriously hot water due to a soon-to-be class action lawsuit filed against them by an irate gambler. Basically he lost a lot of money on CS:GO gambling websites and decided to take him salt directly to the source. Normally this is the sort of thing that would simply be brushed off but according to the current laws and regulations in regards to online gambling he actually has a valid point -- and consequently a valid case.

"In sum, Valve owns the league, sells the casino chips, and receives a piece of the casinos income stream through foreign websites in order to maintain the charade that Valve is not promoting and profiting from online gambling, like a modern-day Captain Renault from Casablanca," the suit alleges. "That most of the people in the CS:GO gambling economy are teenagers and under 21 makes Valves and the other Defendants actions even more unconscionable."

Valve has has also made a habit of declining or avoiding any kind of public statements regarding their situation. Honestly, that doesn't seem good. It seems, to me, that it's pretty clear cut and Valve ends up in the wrong here. Given I'm no lawyer or legal expert I could be completely wrong, but it just seems like common sense. What do you think? Will their legal team will be able to diffuse something like this? Or are we going to see Valve -- and subsequently the CS:GO gambling scene and market -- take a devastating blow right on the chin?

There is no way that gambling will be completely shut down or skins prices will drop dramatically. Imagine the uproar from people who have invested thousands into skins. I personally have a couple hundred pound inventory with a karambit doppler and if it were to drop down in price I would be beyond pissed. I feel that valve has to have protected itself in this case and I hope they have.

Sure, the uproar would be ridiculous and would spell a lot of trouble for the game, the community and a lot of gambling sites -- but there's a possibility that is what's at stake here. No-one owes you any money, you willingly gambled it away. I mean personally I don't think it's going to get to that point, but the backlash is something that should be considered as a possibility if Valve handles this the wrong way.

I don't believe you know what I said, I have skins worth hundreds of pounds and if gambling shuts down then there will be an overflow of skins and nowhere to sell them/gamble meaning the prices would fall dramatically. Hence you would lose money which is why people would be pissed.
