I didn't know how to start this but i am just gonna go for it.

Ok so. I am finishing my last year of college at 8th next month or in 2 and half weeks. The full title of my course is BTEC Extended Diploma Media (Games Development) which is level 3 last year. I already tried to ask for advice in college but they don't really try as much as they should do. But the main problem that I have is I want to get into IT industry not making games. It is because I don't want to go to uni which if I had a chance to apply for one of the positions most likely some dude with uni degree you bet me no matter what plus there isn't any jobs in my town anyway. I didn't do ICT in school in year 10 and 11 because I was part time course in college doing mechanics because I like cars and that.

I know a lot of things about computers but the main thing I do not have any evidence tho proof it. I know you may think. Why don't you apply for an IT course in college? Well I can't because I'm 19 and as we all know only people till 18 years of age get free education and later on you must pay. When I was looking for apprenticeships they were looking for people with grade C English and Maths, well i have FN skills level 2 so that counts like a C kind of but also they are looking for any ICT grade which I do not have. I don't know what to do. Really!! I want to work on computers and such but all I need is evidence. I know, I made a mistake choosing that course I knew I was confident till I founded out that nearly most people who want to work in Games Development go to unis or there is hardly any goms around. If there are they are looking for best of the best which im not.

I am posting this here because I don't have a choice anymore and It is not just that but I am asking you guys for a help. I don't want to make sandwiches for people as my future job. I know I **** up as my course and I should of reacted quicker.

any advice would be so much helpful.

Not sure if this makes any sense but the fact that you did a Game Development course really shows you're tech savy. Right there is enough evidence to prove you know what you're doing on a computer. As far as being qualified for the job you'd like I don't know, however that doesn't look too bad to have game development on your resume. You sound like a smart kid so just keep doing your research and find the best path for you, I'm sure you won't end up making sandwiches. Although I don't have much more advice, best of luck to you.

Thank You. Well I am trying look for stuff in IT sector or even aplying for jobs. Even tho I might have no chance having it but it is still worth of try. The course what i am doing doesnt' really teach IT. Well it does kind of but not like IT IT if you know what I mean. For example they don't teach us about Servers or BOIS or Command Prompt. But as you said it may kind of count as IT. I mean yes we work on computers. Making levles, creating 3D levels and coding. But I am not good at coding. But you maybe be right. I might have to do more research about If Game Development might boost my chances of getting me a job in IT somwhere.

No problem and right, well like you said you always have a safe bet starting a internship or apprenticeship and moving up the ladder. Look at in a positive way not as the wrong course, but just extra course for enrichment. Remember they can't say no unless you ask first, so yes go apply for those jobs.
