As long as you have a WiFi connection, you'll be fine using that for your PS4. There really isn't much need to use a wired setup if your concern is connection based. As long as you aren't 2 floors up from your router or in a basement you should be fine playing games with good connection strength. This can be situational though, crowded channels, multi-floor houses (or playing in your basement), ISP given routers that are junk etc. Sometimes you just get unlucky and using a wired connection might be your best bet.

tl;dr: You don't need to use a wired connection unless you already notice poor network connection.
