I ordered some sleeved PC cables the other day, and during checkout I accidentally gave the wrong address. I wrote the correct address, but the wrong post code. The address I wrote is my work address (which is correct), but for the post code I accidentally wrote my house post code.

It's not been 3 days since I should have received it, and I still haven't got it. Do you think they will see the address and deliver it, or not deliver it because it's the wrong post code?

I've contacted the supplier but because it has already been dispatched, they can't do anything about it. There is also no tracking information so it's not like I can see where it is.

I honestly don't know what to do. I didn't spend a huge amount, but I don't want to order some more incase these turn up out of the blue. Does anyone have an opinion/ideas?

this happened with my earphones they just take it back to the company who delivers it.

just email them and say that you got the address wrong and tell them the right address and it should be fine.

Sometimes it gets sorted out but most likely well be sent back to sender, I'd call the post office first see if anythings stuck there, then call the vendor.

Basically, you wrote the right address but the wrong Post Code, then surely your delivery would be posted to your local Post Office if they can't find the address but in this story you wrote the right address so the delivery should arrive at your work or at your home one of the two if not your Post Office. You have to pay for the Fee for the Office Post for looking after your delivery. That happened to me when I was in your situation.

Delivery normally goes of your post code so whatever postcode you've sent it at it will turn up there. If it has to be signed and has been signed you can contact the mail company and they can tell who signed it and at what address it was at. Hope this helped

First off, thanks for all the help guys. You've all been really helpful.

I rang my local post office and they've said that they don't have any parcels for me. The guy said that it may have been sent back already, or it hasn't turned up yet. I ordered next-day-delivery so I'm fairly sure that it had turned up, saw the wrong address and got sent back.

I think now I need to message the eBay seller (a legit company) that a parcel may be returning to them in my name. I will then give them the correct address.

This is frustrating man.

EDIT:

OR, should I wait a few more days to make sure that it will turn up and is just a few days late? To be more specific, I ordered the item on Monday 11th, and it was expected to come next day (Tuesday, 12th).

Just for future reference for anyone who comes upon this thread, I talked to my friend who does shipping and he says there are two ways they do it. One way is separating by the zip code so everything goes to the "big" distribution plant in each state, then they go out from there. The other way is they dis-regard the zip code and just go by the address. If they go by the address, you'll have no problem. If they go by the zip code, they'll send it out to that area, but when they can't find the address they give it to the return address or take it back to the place it was dropped off at. He said basically when that happens it's free picking because they throw a lot of it away.

Always give them your phone number, E-mail address, and homes address in case this happens. It also helps if you're a "member" of the shipping company (having a UPS my choice shipping account, etc.).
