That still isn't something we would be able to help you with exactly. Different artists charge different amounts. The cross did you want one colour or having multiple colour/shade(s)? How big is the cross going to be, as well as the text for your dad's birthday? These are all things an artist will charge more for. Your best bet would to look at a few artwork by some tattoo artists near you, find an artist(s) that you like their work and contact them asking for an estimate for your tattoo. If they ask for an idea, see if you can come into the shop, with a picture of the cross you want or have them sketch it out. You could also see if you can email them the image of the cross and text, the font size (yes, some will ask what size font you want in pt format, so like 12 pt or something like that) and what colours/shading you want for it and have them go from there for pricing.

50-100 If one tattoo studio is offering to do it at 50 but they're not as good and one is doing it for 100 but they're known to be better pay the extra 50. Tattoo's are permanent regardless of the laser removal, due to the fact it scars the area. And paying extra for it to look amazing and never feel like you need it removed is better than saving 50 pound.

$50-$100 for a tattoo on his arm (assuming it's his forearm) with a cross and text? LMAO I would love to know what tattoo artist would charge that cheap for an arm tattoo that is supposed to end up looking good, one of my tattoos is text on my wrist that is 10 pt in font size and that was $170 alone.

It's going to depend on alot of things. Where you go, what you want, what size, etc.
