I haven't played ac since black flag so I am a bit confused. I don't know anything about unity, rogue, or syndicate. If anyone could let me know which would be good to play or even the order I would be grateful.

I haven't played it myself but I have heard from numerous sources that Syndicate is the best in the series so far.
Honestly, in my opinion if you have the budget you should buy all of the AC games you haven't played. They are all excellent games packed with content and frequent DLC's.

Play Unity than Syndicate.
Rogue is a side story and has nothing to do with the main. Or at least I think so.
You should also grab the Chronicals arcade games. They're pretty good. There's China, Russia, and India.
