So Im trying to build something that doesn't need to run games but has that power to run a nice display. I basically use my computer now to watch videos, listen to music, and look up whatever I feel I need to research. I have a few things in a cart but im stuck trying to decide what kind of data holding device I really need, whether I should look into an SSD or just a normal HDD, I just don't know. So I have an Intel core i7 4790, a gigabyte h97n-wifi (miniATX), and team dark 16gb RAM (2x8) in the cart at the moment and should be able to purchase whatever else i need by the end of next week. I am going to end up with a pretty nice monitor, yes I wanna do a microATX case (hoefully the mniATX in there will give me more space for possible audio upgrades and or better graphics. If anyone could help me out mainly with the hard drive part that would be great!

p.s. any other suggestions for the other parts still needed are greatly appreciate as well. Im also open to tips that anyone has to offer with any of the parts i already have decided on.

It really depends on what your mainly going to do. People like to do a SSD & HDD combo. So, if you fancy it, you can have a 120GB / 240GB SSD with a 1/2/3+ TB HDD. Depending on your storage needs.

Few questions before we change your build around,

Do you want to game at all? If so, what games?
Are you interested in 4k?
Whats your total budget for everything?
Anything else we need to know?

Okay im not looking to download much, very minimal apps so not a lot of storage is needed. I do not want to game at all haha, I do want to look at a 4k option but not necessary in all honesty im looking for a really crisp display is all. I have about 800-950$ to spend in total. I do need to purchase a monitor, keyboard and mouse as well. Another thing thats probably important is I'd like to run Windows 10 on this build.

Well I may be getting into video editing, Im not sure yet. Like i said above i mainly watch a lot of youtube videos, research quite a lot of stuff on the net and I use mainly spotify to run music but of course I need iTunes as well. I do also like to jailbreak so that plays a part I assume. I really need a smooth system that will not give me any problems lag wise.

Considering that you don't use your PC for anything demanding at all, an i3 rig using the iGPU would do you fine. No need for an i7. I'm not sure why you think the Mini ITX board would be better for future upgrades, because it's in fact the complete opposite. The i7, mITX motherboard and 16GB RAM will take up half of your budget alone, wouldn't be my choices. Also, what audio upgrades are you talking about? Not a PCIe sound card I hope.

About half the budget on peripherals so you get a nice mouse, nice mech keyboard and a nice 1440p panel. You could get a cheaper 1440p monitor, and grab an i5 instead of the i3 if you wish, but from what you've told us, an i3 would do just fine.
