So basically i am University with two jobs, the stress is hitting through the roof.

I am currently studying Computing degree course. As much as i enjoy it i am coming to a point in my life where sitting in front of a computing screen gets repetitive. Through out my childhood i have enjoyed technology, whether it's from gaming to even simple things learning about computing. Now i think sitting in front of my computer every time i get a module thinking what the hell am i doing.

This may be a rant but i need to get everything off my chest and i feel like this is the best place to express myself as everyone seems to be supportive.

Now let me get to the point, i'm at University in England so it may be different to other countries. So here i am able to have two jobs because my University is in my home town. I have two jobs which is working at a super market 3 days a week which is called Asda as well as working at an Estate Agents, where i do marketing graphic design for them. Money is not a problem for me as i am living with my parents as you could of guess. Now you can think of the stress i am going through and i can't stop pushing myself but it's killing me. Depressed every time i go to do University work and working in Asda is a mind mess. Although i really enjoy working at the estate agents, but the money is not amazing because it's low key.

My parents nag me to keep at my University but i am not happy. The only reason why i am at University now is to keep my parents happy and that seems like i am doing something wrong. Basically i need help in trying to change my life and make my life a little bit more stable and easier. I know life isn't easy by the way but i'm a C student. Only reason i got in to University is because i got a Distinction in BTEC Computing.

Any suggestions? (Let me just add, i want to be a web developer but since i have started University i have not have enough time and it's killing me...)

be free to add your opinion, as you can guess i am drunk as it's my only day off and i thought this would be a good idea but it wasn't. So i went home and went straight to you guys. Sorry if i sound silly

Honestly I don`t see the point in Uni.

If you`re not enjoying it, you shouldn`t be there, time is precious,

For example, if you dropped out today, started up your own web design, graphics whatever company, with a good startup, by the new year you could be a distinguished company,

or, you could waste (imo) 3-4 years of your life, back in school.

That`s my 2 cents anyway.

Why do something if you don't enjoy it? Uni can set your life and make it easier in the long run but if you're not happy don't keep doing it.

Live for yourself nobody else.

I was the same as you when I was at college, I ended up dropping out and getting a job, personally I feel if you don't enjoy something and want to do something else then go for it

Why not stop working at Asda, you would have more freetime etc, and since money was not a problem, 2 jobs seems over the top.

University can be a pain in the ass (it is for me as well) but I think it's one of those things you won't regret later when you finish. Heard many people who dropped out of University and they regret their decisions because not having anything to do rendered them lazy.

If you really can't stand the course, transferring to a different programme could be the solution.

It's your life. You shouldn't be going to University if you don't want to. Talk with your parents.

Sounds to me like you need a break buddy.
Why dont you take a semester off or just take one class a semester just dont lose that flow of going to college.

Im at a university as well and yes, it is tiring, it is frustrating, but if you want to get that computing degree, then stay on it. It will benefit you on the long run.

Tell your parents that you would like to take one course next semester because you are tired.

Ill be honest with you. I was going full time for my EE degree then two semesters later, i couldnt take it, to much work load and then plus working on the side. So i decided to take a semester with two courses and it worked out better. I didnt get high A's in those classes as some would think, " well, you should have gotten A's since your only taking two classes" they dont know shit about the situation im on. Everyone is different.

I would advise you to stay on this degree.

Heres a plan

Take one course next semester. This will give you time to work( if you want to work) and save up money, that way the semester after that, youll just be taking courses and not working. If you do decide to just get one class, this will give you time to research about web developing in your free time.

Good luck

Thanks everyone.

Now i am sober i will tell you what i am thinking. I left Uni because i didn't enjoy it, i prefer doing Computing in my own time. I enjoy working at ASDA but it's horrible working there when i go Uni as well.

Now i have left Uni i feel like i am finding myself more and i am able to explore. I quit Uni 2 weeks ago and everyone has said to me how much more happier i am.

My plans are to save money to go to Japan. I want to go there for a couple months and just live there. Then when i come back i want to become a truck driver and work on a car build with my father which i have been wanting to do all my life.

I woke up thinking everyone would laugh at this post but this community proved me wrong

I talked to my parents and they are happy for me to go ahead with leaving University because they want me to be happy

Now, I know everyone preaches to you as a kid to go to college and get a degree to succeed in life, but if your parents really understand you, they will support you decision, to dropout (if you're thinking about that). You shouldn't put yourself in the decision to live a life in misery, or live your life in happiness. Now I'm not saying you should take my opinion right off the bat, but you should try and see if you have a backup option if you want to dropout of your University. You can also drop in, when you can go into classes you are interested in and learn some stuff, but you aren't going to get a degree for it, its basically free learning. It's what Steve Jobs did, if you are certain with your decision, go for it. Your parents will support your decision.
Stay hungry and stay foolish.
