TheFakeMrSneaky wrote Aight. The reason why I asked was cause I don **** up and went like 8000 over my 5000 mile mark. My dipstick was reading like no oil at all, just a tiny bit. I took the oil filter off and some came out but barely anything like a tiny stream for about 4 seconds. Suprised my car didnt blow. Anyways my take can hold 5 Qts and I put 5 qts in with no problem so I was just wondering with the VERY little amount in their if it would mess it up mixing together or anything. But yeah its over with did it at like 10 pm last night.

I use to have a jetta that burned oli pretty fast (Plus was using synthetic oli so even faster) and I would often have to add oli but not needed an oli change.

I'm not sure if there's any long run damage but you shouldn't have issues.

Easy Jack your car Up (Recommend using axle stand) Remove Oil Plug (Sump Plug) drain your oil , replace sump plug and then fill your oil easy as pie

I personally don't go by the amount of miles driven, I go by how does it smell and look. If it is black or smells burnt, it needs to be replaced. My F-150 has an oil leak which is perfect because every month I add about a quart of oil so I have yet to do an actual oil change lol. I just replace my oil filter every year (roughly 10k miles), and I'm good to go.

For general maintenance, it's good to check your fluids once a month. This would be your brake fluid, oil, trans fluid (if auto trans), and coolant. It takes all of 2 minutes and will save you a costly repair later. Running low on oil can destroy cylinders or the whole engine, low brake fluid is simple, you won't have brakes, low trans fluid could destroy your trans, and low coolant can cause your engine to overhead and kill it.

C4s wrote Yes you have to remove the oil plug lol.

If you are to lazy to change the oil youself go on groupon and you can get coupons for oil changes for like $20

Or go to Walmart, they charged me 19.84 with having to add an addition quart and a half (their 15 dollar oil change is for 5 quarts, my truck was 6.5).
I did not know that lol/ My dad and I or just I do the oil changes for our family besides my moms car since Toyota does them for free lol

I like the location of mine, right behind the bumper. REALLY old pic here, this is when I was putting the grille guard on lol.

My F-350 is closer to the block, I could get it without getting under the truck but it's easier to get under the truck. My 150 is real simple, just reach right behind the bumper.

Not a bad place for a canister filter, the newer plastic ones most commonly found on newer cars are reachable from the top of the engine bay afaik, whereas the older canisters are slightly more complicated.
