A rural farm house, although that'd get just as much attention as a mansion would during a apocalypse.

Farm house. Easy hiding spots that can see places where looters will look, so shoot them and take their weapons. The live stock will give you enough meat for a little while provided you can smoke some of it. It also brings opportunity to bait and trap other animals. Not only that but a farmhouse is a simply building so you can "rebuild" it to re-purpose some parts of it for either firewood, use it to smoke meat, make a smaller shelter(s) in other places, etc. Tractor is essentially useless, you won't be able to drive it because it is very loud causing people to look your way, gives you no protection, and doesn't go fast to get away. This would be used for parts on other projects you will have. Beings that it is a farm, there are probably tools laying around whereas the other houses won't have very many tools. However, you have not listed any threats to this area so it is purely survival which makes this the obvious choice.

Suburban home would be hard because of the amount of neighbors. You will constantly be fighting off people and you would be hard pressed to get out of there as soon as possible. A 12 gauge isn't a very good gun, it's fine for close defense but don't plan on being accurate when you are trying to shoot people a few houses down.

The mansion is a big target. People will see an expensive place and think it will have things they can use. Not only that, but these homes are extremely complex so you can't really edit the house very easily. If an EMP went off or otherwise computers no longer work, forget about those vehicles. The one positive about this house being complex is that bullets won't be able to penetrate the walls from the outside as easily.

Also, what kind of zombies are you talking about? The ones like what you see in COD where they tear down boards, or the ones portrayed in movies where they just push on things? Mythbusters proved that a bunch of people just leaning on a door can be stopped fairly simply.

so its quite easy to defend i guess

Very interesting choice, I'm talking zombies in Z Nation or The Walking Dead.
