You should add more to the bottom half, I feel it is missing something, but overall I think you did a pretty good job. Keep it up!

I don't understand the popularity in these banners.

It looks like you copy and pasted a banner on a mountain.

The pictures have no correspondence, and just looks random to me.

The mountain on the top and bottom is not actually part of the header or banner, it is usually used to show who made, ask for rt+favs, etc. TThe actual piece is what's in the middle.

Technically, it is actually visible to people but only if they're viewing on televisions. Mobiles, tablets and desktops will only see the middle bit. (@ GOWN)
