Both of your suggestion were pretty meh, especially the AMD one since AM3+ is a dead socket. If you're going with an AMD rig, go with FM2+. There's one instance, and one instance only, where AM3+ makes sense, IMHO. When a user is doing lots of rendering work, on a budget, then FX-8320 and R9 280/380 would be a good shout, if they can't afford anything better. Other than that, AM3+ is poo. The PSU is shit. As are most of Corsair's units, other than their hella expensive ones. The Z97S SLI Krait didn't make much sense in that 4690k rig either. We don't even know if OP will be overclocking.

OP- Xiggy Azalea's suggestion is solid. You could save like £100 by going with an FM2+ rig, which will perform similarly in gaming, but the i5 is better. If you go with an FM2+ rig, you can manage to squeeze a better GPU in to the rig, or an SSD, and/or nicer case.

Best to get it from one retailer to save money.

Just add the Parts from the screenshot to your basket.

i5 rig- [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

FM2+ rig- [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

860k rig can be overclocked, is nicer and has a larger SSD. The 860k will do about as well as the i5 for gaming and what not. The i5 is the better CPU, however.

i might get the i5 rig, is that technically the better one for gaming? or does it not matter? i personally wont do any editing or anything just want to play games. I think having the intel rig will open for more possibilities.
