So this budget build is for my friend he plans to play games like counter strike, garrysmod, no mans sky, and gtaV. He doesn't have much money to spend $600 tops is this build good for him.

Shame it's got a CPU where some games won't boot and a crap GPU.

get an SSD ASAP or get the SSD first and then get a HDD later for when he needs more storage. whatever floats your goat.

Better GPU. You have no logical CPU upgrades without a motherboard upgrade, and the i5 is a better CPU, the 860k is comparable to the i3 but with 4 true cores, instead of the i3's 4 virtual cores(2 true cores). Up to you whether you'd prefer the better CPU or better GPU.
