I can personally recommend the G1 Gaming, it is a dank card that doesn't require overclocking as it has the highest boost of 1340MHz. I love mine.

That was more meant as a tip rather than a suggestion for a 970.

980Ti is "new" and not many non-reference options are currently available for purchase.

That was more meant as a tip rather than a suggestion for a 970.

980Ti is "new" and not many non-reference options are currently available for purchase.

But it's clear in the title, OP isn't on about the 980 Ti
plus, with the current vendors it's easy to assume which is going to be a good card or not by looking at the 970/980 performance from each vendor.
