I am going to build a PC in and was wondering if DDR4 is worth it? I know that only certain CPUs and motherboards can make use of it so was wondering if the added cost is justifiable. I do a fair bit of rendering of HD and UHD, mostly in After Effects but also in Cinema 4D. I don't do much gaming and I am assuming that DDR4 would have pretty negligable affect on gaming anyway.

Thanks

Yes and no. The difference between DDR3 and DDR4 is nothing too significant. However, DDR4 means you'll be using an X99 motherboard and pairing it with something like a 5820k, which will out-perform a 4790k in editing/rendering and what not.
