WWE Payback - Sunday 17th May 2015

Times: 7pm ET/ 4pm PT / 12am UK

- Match Card -

PreShow Tag Team Match:
The Meta Powers (Curtis Axel and Macho Mandow) vs. The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor)

With his tenure as The Miz's stunt double, and then PA, now at an end, Damien Sandow is back to his character acting and has a new role: Macho Mandow. Meanwhile, Curtis Axel is insisting that Axelmania is running wild. Their match on Raw was interrupted by The Ascension, and the two men joined forces to become The Meta Powers (like Mega Powers, gettit? Gettit? Oh, you do gettit. Sorry).

"You think this is entertaining? These two delusional idiots imitating two old relics from the past in a desperate attempt to jumpstart their pathetic careers. Dressing like a legend doesn't make you a legend. There's a difference. There's a difference between being laughed at and being laughed with."

Amazingly, that was Legion of Doom The Ascension, showing either a total lack of self awareness or amazingly dry humour. That said, we predict their show will be back on the road with the swift Fall of the Meta Powers.

Divas Tag Match:
Naomi and Tamina vs. The Bella Twins (Brie Bella and Nikki Bella)

AJ Lee has retired. Paige is out "injured", so the Bellas have been stomping around like they own the place without any payback. Until now. Nikki successfully defended her Championship against Naomi at Extreme Rules, but now she's backed by a seriously badass looking Tamina Snuka, things are only going to get more vicious in this non-title tag match.

The Bella Twins have had a lifetime to work together and conjure up some twin magic, and Nikki especially has proven herself a seriously tough competitor in recent months. But Naomi and Tamina will be just too hardcore, surely resulting in another title match for Naomi down the line.

Before too long though, Paige will be wanting her house back, and with Charlotte and Emma snapping at their heels, things could start to get very interesting in the Divas division.

Singles Match:
Ryback vs. Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt has had high-profile losses to John Cena and The Undertaker over the last 18 months, but does not seem to have been cowed by the defeats. But if he continues to talk the talk without walking the walk, then his status as the New Face of Fear must surely come into some dispute?

None of this will bother The Big Guy. A punching bag for The Authority, Ryback has struggled to get his head above the crowd in recent months, but a big win against Wyatt will certainly do that.

It won't happen though. Cena and The Undertaker are a level above Ryback. It may take a tiny bit of help from his recently-reunited friends Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, but even without that Wyatt's fireflies will go home happy.

WWE Tag Team Championship:
The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston) (c) (with Xavier Woods) vs. Tyson Kidd and Cesaro (with Natalya)

This one could steal the whole damn night. A two-out-of-three falls tag team match for the title between two fantastic tag teams. The New Day have finally snapped and shown their vicious side. Meanwhile, Kidd and Cesaro are getting the cheers with their swingin' sense of style. FACT.

We can see this one going the full three falls, and there'll definitely be some involvement from Xavier and Natalya to keep everyone on their toes. We're picking The New Day's enthusiasm to just get them over the line.

Like the Divas division, we're hoping for some new blood soon, with Lucha Dragons and a returning Prime Time Players ready to enter the scene.

Singles Match
Dolph Ziggler vs. Sheamus

Another re-run from Extreme Rules, but this time happily there's no arse-kissing stipulation. What we should get is a mix of Sheamus's mean hard-hitting and Dolph attempting to fly and hold his way out of trouble.

Both these men seem like a good bet for the now-vacated Intercontinental Title (get well soon, D-Bry), and will see this match as a means to lay down a marker. He may have missed out last month, but we're picking Sheamus to pick up the win this weekend and spend the next few weeks rubbing it in.

WWE United States Championship - I Quit Match
John Cena (c) vs. Rusev (with Lana)

Ding ding ding! Round FOUR between these two competitors. For the fourth successive pay-per-view, the US Championship is on the line and Cena and Rusev are going face to face. There seems to be trouble between Rusev and Lana, and we can't help but think that may cost Rusev his final attempt at Cena and the belt.

Rusev is a serious competitor, but John Cena famously never, ever gives up. We just can't imagine him saying "I Quit". Ever. And although we're big fans, we're even more fond of the regular John Cena US Title Open Challenge.

He's turned a barely-defended bauble into the new TV championship and regular Raw highlight. We back him to continue and Rusev to move into more Intercontinental waters.

Singles Match:
King Barrett vs. Neville

Yet ANOTHER Extreme Rules re-run, after the first hastily-arranged match following Daniel Bryan pulling out from a planned IC title defence against Barrett. This time you've got the added spice of one of the Englishmen in the contest wielding a sceptre and wearing a crown.

We're massive fans of both of our countrymen, but Neville really has something special. He's hot-shot his way into the pay-per-view scene just weeks after his WWE main roster debut, and he'll underline that he's absolutely ready to be here with another victory against the King.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship - Fatal 4Way
Seth Rollins (c) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Randy Orton

Where to begin? Ambrose and Rollins and Reigns (oh my!) in a match together for the first time since the heartwrenching break-up of The Shield. That should be enough to make things exciting, but then there's also the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line.

Add Randy Orton's presence in the match, plus the simmering tensions between Orton/Rollins, Reigns/Rollins and of course Ambrose/Rollins, and there's more going on here than we can even keep track of.

And to top it all off, Kane has been told that if Rollins doesn't retain the belt, then he will lose his position as WWE Director of Operations. Keeping up? We think the chaos will play right into Seth Rollins's hands, and while everyone's distracted in the melee, he'll sneak this one.
