Hey guys I had built my computer a few months ago and I've been running with an r7 250 4gb GDDR3 Video card.. It's ok but after awhile I think it is time for an upgrade. I will need to buy a new PSU considering mine is only 500 Watts. Although I know what I'll be getting in terms of the PSU. My main question is "What should the new card I get be? I'm looking to spend up to $400 on the card."

What..? Why do you have a 4GB R7 250? It's an extremely low-end card, it's not even worth buying. It's a card for business type situations where multiple monitors are needed for productivity, hence the large amount of VRAM for such a low end card. 500W is more than enough for the majority of single card rigs. It's the quality that matters, not the wattage. Also, what is your currency? USD, CAD, NZD, AUD? What PSU were you looking at? Is your budget for both PSU and GPU, or just GPU?

USD. I bought this card because I got an extremely good deal on it. I had barely any money at the time and this was my only viable option. Plus It's actually not the bad of a card. I can play most games on high including Skyrim. I would like to upgrade my PSU anyways. I plan on running two cards sooner or later.

Well for the psu the evga g2 is your best option.

Get a second 970 if you really need one later on. You should get a nice 1440p monitor before you get a second 970.

I should've posted this on the original post sorry for the confusion. I'm spending 400 on the Card alone. I know what PSU i'm getting. But I also have an AMD build btw.

it does not matter if you have a amd cpu. The 970 is the best option for you budget, it performs better, runs cooler and is more efficient than the 290x. Use the money left over to get a ssd or something. The only other gpu option you have is the 980 or 295x2 which costs $500+.

What powersupply are you buying?

OP- Do not buy an RM1000. The RM series are terrible PSUs, especially the RM1000. What PSU do you currently have and what are the rest of your specs?
