i bought a evga 750w g2 from newegg. I got it yesterday hooked everytng up. now boot -_-. I figured out that when i connect the psu to the wall it makes a sound like its getting electricity but when i hit power it makes a short noise and then nothing happens. I've tried using my old power supply which did not work and that was weird since it worked like a hour before. I just want to get some opinions on what happened i didn't mess with anything except the psu. I think the board got fried.

Very possible your mobo short circuited. Did you try the paper clip test on your PSU?

Are you sure double check that everything is plugged in correctly.

Worrying? It's just PSU manufacturers using black cables rather than coloured ones because it looks nicer, as long as they wire them correctly (which they will) it doesn't matter what colour the insulation is.

EVGA G2 units come with a power supply tester in the box anyway well mine did.

It's most likely not dead the fan doesn't spin unless it's up to a certain load or temp.

Are you 100% sure you connected the the 24pin atx and the 4/8 pin CPU power cables and that their fully inserted?
