For a Essay I'm Currently doing I need some opinions of others.

Would you class Steven Spielberg as a Auteur and why?

In own words the Auteur Theory states that a film as a whole is all credit to the Director as without the directors vision the film wouldnt be great at all.

So what do you think? even if you don't agree with the theory would you calss Spielberg as one?

Thanks:)

I would agree that the director plays a massive role in the film, and that without the directors vision the film wouldn't come together, but I don't think that ALL of the credit should go to the director.

So either every director is an Auteur or none are, for me anyway.

So from that would you say he is classed as a Auteur?

Yes. I would say he's an Auteur with this definition:
a filmmaker whose individual style and complete control over all elements of production give a film its personal and unique stamp.

Nicolas Winding Refn seems like more of an Auteur than Steven Spielberg though.
