changing my heat sync with a better one, need help with what i need to use to get rid of the thermal compound.

I wouldn't recommend it but I used a KFC wipe on mine once..

The best way to do it, is get some isopropyl alcohol and use that to ruby the thermal paste off of your CPU with a coffee filter.

I use 99% isopropyl alcohol and a coffee filter

If you have nothing, a bit of tissue paper and some elbow grease will do it.

If not, I use Artic remover and purifier - works a treat even after 2/3 years of having the stuff.


If you use tissue paper, make sure that you dont leave any bits on the CPU so do a final wipe with your jumper or something like that

Another good one is Deodorant and a cotton bud,just make sure its not anti antiperspirant that you use. I used a bit of Lynx.
