I have a pretty decent build
i7 4790k
NVIDIA 970 reference
8gb of 2133 ram

I have been playing GTA V and have been messing around in the settings. The game seems to have some massive fps drops when I fist start it up, but then it neutrals out.

I'm playing on a flat screen TV at 1920x1200 with a refresh of 59hz

Steams FPS counter says I get 59 frames with slight 1-2 frame dips.
I have seen/ read some posts that people max out the games settings with their 970s. When I apply max settings my FPS drop to a constant 30.

Is their any advice as to how I can achieve max settings?

Turning v-sync on caps my SLI 970s at 30FPS in FC4. Turning it off brings me up to 100+FPS easily on my single 1080p panel. Turn v-sync off and you should be golden.

It did fix the issue. I did some research on it and in GTA V and most other games that have V-Sync if the FPS drop below the refresh rate (60) then it will go to 30. This explains the issue I was having, and I no longer have it. Thanks guys

Im unsure wether people understand what V-Sync does but here goes -

Vsync is there to reduce screen tearing, to do this is caps your FPS to your Screen refresh rate so for example yours is 59Hz you should be capped to 59-60 its not bottleneck its Vsync cap for better quality, if youre experiencing a lot of screen tearing you turn Vsync on if not then just turn it of and have unlimited FPS.
