Seriously though, some people "hate" the police because they're annoying little shits and want to stand up against the 'brutality' and what not. I mean, obviously, there are asshole police, but these people who just enjoy protesting use every excuse they can, which is pathetic. Then again, some people have every right to hate the police, especially with all of the recent shootings and 'accidents' with many young, unarmed black men being shot and killed. Also, there are police setting up small time drug busts, to catch small time marijuana users which is pathetic, wasting time to imprison someone who just wants a little Sunday smoke so that the police can get a higher budget for wage increases and new equipment. There are also some places with worse police(on average) that are more likely to discriminate against, or 'abuse' people.

I personally, get stopped by police very often due to my age, and the way I look/walk/talk, and it gets to be a huge pain in the ass. If police are nice, and doing their job properly, I have no problems with them though.

Yeah I feel you. I don't like when people bash the police just because they hear "F*CK THE POLICE" in music and they want to act like their peers. I've encountered various types of cops. Some we're chill and let me off with a warning when I was drinking in the streets, others we're not and shut down parties I attended. My main problem was when I was hanging out in a bar with some friends a few years ago and police came chasing after a guy inside the bar, spilling a bunch of beer. Now most people probably know this but you don't spill a drunk guy's beer. People started shouting a bunch of shit a the police, throwing shit, and it got to the point where two officers just started pepper spraying everyone in reach. It was complete chaos. I got hit pretty bad and ended up getting a tickets cause I pushed a cop away with a chair.

Since those events I've started to notice police brutality more and more around me. I rarely say things like "f*ck the police", but sometimes I really do hate them. But then like everything in life there's the good side. The ones that let you off with a warning, help you when your car is stolen, catch the shitbag who stole your camera, etc.

Sorry for my poor english! just had to get this off my chest!

im not standing up for the police, but in all these social media videos, you never really see the beginning, all you see is the middle or the end, where someone gets shot, and then they make the story up from there saying "all my boy jimmy was doin was walking, they shot him" and then it spirals out of control, not every cop is perfect no one is, theres bad people everywhere, but in todays society more people act ignorant and stupid casuing them to get locked up or shot, and then the family wants to claim police brutality, but yet when you need help, they will be there for you, they are they for law and order, and its ignorant kids like the one in this video im posting that cause issues [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

You can say "I like the police" or "I hate the police"

Both statements would be incorrect as there are good and bad people all over the planet, same applies to officers of the law.

Personally I've had good reason to dislike the police in my younger years, where I come from they randomly harass you with something they call 'random stop and searches'. It's offensive because it makes you feel like they think you are the type of person who would carry a knife/gun. Not saying or implying I'm a perfect law abiding citizen but I'm most certainly not the kind of person who would be carrying weapons for example.

I get the fact they are here to protect and serve which is a good thing, but I am not happy with the way they conduct their business; definitely falls under the harassment category.

EDIT: Just wanted to add, the most gross harassment I've endured involved me and a group of friends waiting at a bus stop; the bus we where waiting on is every 45 mins/1 hour. The police decided it would be a great idea to pull over and stop and search us. We tried to stress the bus we where waiting on would be here any minute; and of course the 2 police who pulled us over where complete and utter scumbags as they continued to book us and run warrant checks as the bus came and went. The reasonable thing to do was allow us to board the bus and follow the bus whilst running the warrant checks if they really where that suspicious. (Imo they where just 2 of the "d-bag" police who get a kick out of harassing people) - Just wanted to throw that out there

I don't like the idea of police. The idea that someone is out there to "protect and serve" me is complete bullshit from what I've seen in person. Every cop I've seen or encountered is a douche bag and is harassing someone or attempting to harass me. Not protecting or serving anyone in anyway, shape or form. I know my rights like the back of my hand so it's pretty funny to see those fools looks so stupid with that dumb face they all make when I don't let them search me or detain me for no reason.

Personally, I've never called the cops nor will. If someone's tries to rob, kill, or trespass they're going to regret it.

On a separate note, most people that are "pro-police" have never encountered them at all or live in a rich, upper-middle class, mostly white city/neighborhood. They don't even know why people don't like the police.

It is easy to say that police are bad and that they are all bad until you need them and they are not around anymore. Police are a must and the majority of cops are good, just because there are a few bad apples in the group doesn't mean that everyone should give up hope entirely.

The police in the United Kingdom are awful, there is Pedophiles, rapists and murderers about but they would rather arrest people for having fun on a motorbike in a field or something stupid like that.

Just like every group of people there are good cops and bad cops.

Unfortunately there seems to be a high concentration of bad cops. Profiling, abusing power, harassing, brutality is all too common in the force.
Often times these actions are targeted at teens. Guess what demographic makes up a lot of this site. Yup.

Their position of authority also leaves a lot of room for abuse. Often times people become involved in LE because they are seeking authority whether they realize that or not.
That's a recipe for disaster, a power hungry individual getting their ego inflated.

There's also the fact that they are trusted with their role in society. So when they go against their responsibilities it leaves a bad taste in the peoples' mouths.
They, feel betrayed then and have less trust in LE. I've been harassed by some cops before and I'll never look at them the same way.

I still like the Popo though

Police brutality is only an issue when the person does not want to cooperate

Not too long ago a deaf guy got shot and killed for not answering a police officer, because he did not hear him, and the police thought he was threat. Tell me how did he not cooperate? Just a poor guy sitting at a bus stop, I believe minding his own business. I think quite a bit of police officers, are douche bags, more than people let on to.
