Hi guys, I was recently given an ASUS computer to me by a relative and I was wondering if I could turn it into a gaming pc. My specs are:
AMD A6-6400K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics 3.90 GHz
AMD Radeon HD 8470D
8.00 GB DDR3
Windows 7 Premium 64-bit
If any info is missing above that is needed, I would be happy to provide it here .
Questions I have:
I would also like to know what is the best FM2 socket cpu for gaming.
I was wondering what if I replace my AMD A6-6400K with an AMD Athlon X4 760K 3.8GHz Quad-Core Processor and put in a Sapphire Radeon R9 280 3GB Dual-X Video Card. Would this work or is there something I am missing?

Need to know the PSU and case, both make and model. It'd be worth throwing a 280(x) in there, but I'd save up for an Intel upgrade instead of grabbing an Athlon. Adding an SSD would also be beneficial, if you don't already have one.

I also think you should save up until you can afford a Intel CPU. keep in mind if you decide to go for intel you will need to replace your motherboard for a 1150 socket mobo

I believe that my PSU is a 350 Ac Bel and my case is an ASUS and I do not know what it is called, but here is a picture of it [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

PSU and case need to be upgraded before anything. Then, add a GPU. After that, you can save for an Intel upgrade. Add an SSD in when you can, at any point.

You're pretty much going to need a case upgrade. I doubt you'll be able to fit a decent GPU in that system, if the motherboard will even support a dedicated GPU. You might have to upgrade CPU and mobo before adding a GPU. The case is just very small and poor quality, so will be a pain for any upgrades.
