400 what? Is your currency $ or not? We need to know your currency. I'm assuming your budget is £400, but I'll need you to clarify. Do you have a monitor you could use for now until you can get a new one or do you need a monitor within budget?

Whats the difference between the i3 and the G3258 ? Everyone used them in budget builds but not anymore.

i3 has HT so games, programs and OS' are tricked into thinking it's a quad core, when really it's a dual core. Pentium's are dual cores with no HT. Unfortunately, dual cores are becoming obsolete, finally, so Pentium's aren't a viable option anymore IMHO, unless you're going to upgrade CPU to something like an i5 very soon after purchasing the G3258. It's a shame tbh because the G3258 is a hella beast. I wanted a secondary rig just so I could have a G3258 and overclock the balls out of it, but I don't even have my first rig yet, and if I did have a 2nd rig with a G3258, it'd have to be upgraded rather soon if I wanted to continue gaming. Games such as AW, FC4 and GTA V don't officially support dual cores. FC4 and AW have work arounds, but we'll need to wait and see how GTA V reacts to dual cores.

TL;DR- Dual cores are on the way out.
