Diet comes first, you should make sure you have plenty of protein in your diet before turning to supplements.

Of course protein shakes are a great help, but the idea is for when you can't eat and its to supplement your diet, and allow you to still get the nutrients your muscles need after breaking down the muscle tissue.

So overall make sure your diets on point with protein, then worry about protein shakes.

Also as for brands I like MyProtein its good price, good quality blend of protein, and it taste amazing with skimmed milk.

Other than MyProtein, Gold Standard Protein is another amazing one most of my friends tend to use this and helps them with gaining size.

I personally use protein shakes, but do not have a sponsorship with any of them. They do help when working out because they give you more energy, get your heart-rate/adrenaline up, and some actually do not taste all that bad. But, they are bad for you if you use too much of it at a time and can cause you to have a heart attack so only use the recommend amount.

WRONG!

Protein is in no way going to help you in a work out! At all!
Protein is only used to help speed up the repair of the muscles.
When you work out you tear little fibers in your muscles, then, when you've finished, your body then tries to repair the muscles, hence why they get bigger. The protein shake just increases the amount of protein in your body making recovery times a little faster (basically meaning you wont be a sore or achy in the morning).

What you can use however is creatine!
Creatine is used to by a lot of athletes and normal everyday people on a regular basis to increase your workout times. It basically increases the water retention in your body(water stored) and sends it to the muscles being used, along with oxygen, to make you work harder for longer.

Hope this helps!!!!

You're not specific about which supplement in particular you're recommending to OP?
Protein shakes do not give you an adrenaline boost or pump you up pre-workout, you're greatly misinformed.

MLGGuddy wrote Okay first off Protein shakes don't help you work out, they're utilized to rebuild muscle and feed your body post-workout.

Optimum Nutrition offers the best quality whey, I used the Hydrowhey [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] for a good while but got a bigger bang for my buck with the 100% Gold Standard Whey [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] ; there's no comparison when it comes to the price you pay and the amount of nutrients you get, ON will always win.

I've been bodybuilding for three years now, if you need assistance with getting started with your workout you could invest in a Pre-Workout but in reality the only pre-workout you need is your own self motivation, if you want to achieve success and can take the pain you'll be fine. If you can't then oh well you're shit out of luck.

Before anyone fills your head with nonsense this is one domain I tower over, so don't be fooled by silly replies, Whey is the purest form of supplemental protein you can get, creatine is more of a mass gainer in regards to muscle bloating but it's helpful (it's not protein).

Cheers, shoo many people giving advice, I'm not sure what to do haha thanks for the advice though appreciate it.

They do not "help you work out" they can help build muscle, I wouldn't suggest these either. Find a good diet with a lot of protein, it's a lot better than this protein shake shit.

Protein powder is great if you're not getting enough protein in your diet.

Rather than asking on here why not sign up to a forum which will actually help you, there are many out there.

I personally use MyProtein for my protein and creatine supps.
Pre workout on the other hand I use VPX red line White Heat.
