I've had this computer for about 3 years now i think, i recently decided to upgrade it so i could play some better games on it. I only swapped the motherboard, processor and the case. If that even has anything to do with it.
Its been working fine for almost a month now without any blue screening but then an hour ago i suddenly get a message saying my version of windows is not genuine and the desktop background has gone black.
When i go to the properties page it asks me for a product key, after searching around, it is apparently on the back of the case for the PC. God knows where that is, i sent it to the tip two weeks ago.
Anyways, i was just wondering if there was a way to legally get my windows genuine again, if not, I'll have to look illegally i suppose.

if you replace the motherboard, OEM license would be void as OEM licenses are tied to the motherboard, Is the new motherboard a different model from the old one?

Erm I'm not too sure probably not and if they could it would more than likely cost you, when you can get a free version of the OS for free.

What I would do is on a different computer look up reasons why It happened. If you couldn't find anything I would potentially download another windows 7 on a flash drive if possible to put on. AND If no of that works your best bet would be to try and see if you could boot your pc to before the day it started doing it (Which is system restoring it) so try to system restore it to a backup or a few days before it started doing that.
