I am going to be building a new PC and I need some advice on my current build from someone who knows what they're talking about (no offence). I'm not an expert at selecting parts either so if I've totally messed up feel free to tell me.

My budget is currently 1500 GBP and I will be using this PC most of the time. I will be playing the latest games. I will definitely be multitasking a lot.

I've been looking around and here's what I've gathered:

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
CPU: Intel i7 4770K - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i GT - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LP 2x4GB - I already have 2x4GB so I'll be getting another. - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
GPU: 4GB EVGA GTX 980 Superclocked ACX 2.0 - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I was recommended by a friend to check out the ASUS Maximum VII Hero, but I'm not sure if I should get it. - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I am also not sure on which PSU I should get either. Here's the one I was looking at - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

Thanks to anyone who is willing to share their opinion(s) on my build.

-Chris

I had to stop eating mid hot dog to try and beat Xigyy to it. That PSU=No. Get a 4790k instead of 4770k. No need to spend so much on a motherboard. If you're not doing lots of heavy editing/rendering, an i5 will do fine. A full sized case with an ATX motherboard will look ridiculous. 8GB RAM is plenty. GTX 980 isn't worth the extra money over a GTX 970 IMHO. Especially if you're only gaming at 1080p, or even 1440p.

I beat him. What components do you currently have, if any? Do you need peripherals within your £1500 budget? Will you overclock? What exactly will you use the system for?

Alright I'll switch out the 4770k with a 4790k. Which motherboard do you suggest I get?

I have also switched out the 980 to a 970 [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] just like you recommended.

Currently I have a pre-built pc which was purchased around 5-6 years ago. Nothing special.

Also which PSU do you recommend I purchase?

I will need peripherals, I'll be buying a Razer Deathadder (New version), Razer Blackwidow Pro Keyboard and the Razer Kraken Pro 7.1 headphones. Unless you have some better ones in mind? I'm guessing you do.

I'm most likely not going to overclock unless I need or should do and I'll be using the system for playing the latest games, editing/creating videos, streaming, etc.

Thanks for replying and good job on beating Xigyy.

You mentioned that you already have 8GB RAM. If so, re-use that and get this;

from [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] .

The Z97 motherboard is useful for SLI support so I threw in a 4790k as well, which gives you the option of overclocking, if you wish, just add a decent cooler before doing so. Don't buy overpriced Razer junk, if you really want, a Razer mouse will be fine, but they're overpriced. PCIe SSD for dank fast speeds.

Would this cooler be alright for the setup - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also why not this [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] instead of this - [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It comes with a higher boost/gpu speed.

Thanks.

For AIO, I'd be getting either this;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
or this;
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

As for GTX 970, just get whichever you prefer the look of really. I am pretty sure the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970 is the best overclocker, but they're all going to perform very similarly.

Alright I'll go with the NZXT Kraken. I'll also go with the Gigabyte G1.

I really want to get an obsidian series case, I love the way they look and my friend has one and it looks great. Which case would you recommend I get? The 550d?650d?

Thanks very much for spending your time helping me create this build

I wouldn't get an Obsidian, but if you must, a 450D will be fine for this rig.
