Buxtyy wrote This is what i'd get, its got more than enough power for a great gaming experience. All of the parts here are compatible and will work together out of the box. The parts are from a UK retailer [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Mmm, would it not be worth it to upgrade to the 970 and the 4790k?

I would like to play games like Arma 3, H1Z1, Dayz ( Not optimised I know ), Battlefield Hardline etc... Upcoming future titles.

You can get an i7 if you'd prefer, all you'd get from that would be more L3 cache and HT both of which won't give you much extra in games. Also the K model i5's and i7's support overclocking.

And yes you can get the GTX970 if you'd rather have a more powerful system, you would not have to change any other parts from my list if you went with the 970.

Do you think the 970 will perform better than the 960 in games, and by how much?

I'm not sure on the i7 its just a thing i've always wanted to have lol.

You can look up benchmarks for both cards and see which you would rather have. The GTX960 is very new so benchmarks won't be as common as the GTX970's. Well if you want a i7 then you can get one, however only get the K model if you want to overclock.

i7 is unnecessary. If you want the extra threads, a Xeon will be fine, but not needed for gaming, at all. GTX 970 of course, out-performs the GTX 960. Whether it's worth it or not, is up to you.

Well, seeing as you have said that it gives me extra L3 Cache, could I use that in video rendering.

or maybe could spend extra money for the 980 or is that not worth it?

Definitely not GTX980 in my opinion, the performance gain for the money isn't worth it for me. Yes the HT on the i7 could help with rendering depending on your production programs you use, however do you render enough to make it worth it for you.

Well I was going to start and continue youtube again but not sure on how much more effective the i7 will be.

Yes, I also heard about the GTX 980 not being worth the extra money.
