Just decided to check this out and why it has two speeds, does it mean it's overclocked? Heres the picture of what it shows:

The 3.4GHz is the Core Clock Speed and the 3.9GHz is the Max Turbo Speed.

You can see more information here on Intel's website if you'd like to understand what it does; [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Ok thanks for that, so if I'm playing a game or something is demanding more speed it " boosts " itself to that speed or however much the program / process is required to have / wants?

And so based that it can go up to 3.9 if something requires it, should I overclock it ? is it worth it?

As you do not have a 'K' class CPU you cannot overclock, upgrading to one would probably not be worth the price just to overclock as you'd need a 'K' variation cpu, most likely a motherboard change and a CPU cooler. The expense is honestly not worth the performance you'd be getting, it may be wiser to upgrade elsewhere.

I don't know a whole lot about the upgrade thing as my friend built this for me so I wouldn't know where to upgrade but I'd love to, I just got a GTX 970 4gb g1 gaming and I was considering upgrading the motherboard but I'm not sure what else I could upgrade for better performance in games (although I get really good fps in most games)

If you download [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] it'll show all of your specs and you can just screenshot them to show us your current hardware and we could recommend potential upgrades for you. The 3770 and the 970 are a great pair so I don't see them needing upgraded any time soon.

Awesome I'm happy those two work well then, here are the rest of the specs:

Upgrading CPU would be pretty pointless tbh. Upgrading just to manually OC is not worth the cost whatsoever and you've still got a great CPU. I'd wait until at least SkyLake is released before upgrading CPU and motherboard. You could add more RAM if you're going to utilise extra RAM. If you really wanted, you could upgrade motherboard but it won't help at all, unless you want SLI support. What is your PSU make and model? That could potentially do with being upgraded. I'd also personally upgrade that case, but there's no real need to do so.

I might wait for the Skylake to be released then upgrade both the CPU motherboard, and I don't really need the ram I don't think as I don't use photoshop or video editing things I just play Battlefield 4, Arma 3 and such and I don't think I need to upgrade to more ram as I don't think it is needed for those. My PSU Make and model is:

CoolerMaster GX 80+ 750W PSU
