This is my first PC build attempt but i do have experience with console hardware modification & have done my research so that i have a pretty good idea of what i need & where most things will go, socket sizes ect. But i want some input from others so that i know i'm on the right track.

Chassis: I Already have a case, The NZXT Guardian 921 RB

Questions: It has 3 two pen connectors, one for hdd led, one for power switch & one for reset switch. but i could find where they go or if my motherboard was even compatible with those inputs.

Motherboard: Right now i have an old foxconn 2AB1

But later today, I am buying a MSI A88XM Gaming motherboard.

My current proccessor is an AMD Sempron 140 Single Core. And i know your thinking Lul that's old. & it is terribly old. i started with old parts from an old pc just so that i had something to use for the time being.

And because i'm getting a new motherboard with a different cpu socket type im going to need & want a new processor.

That sum's up what i need at this point, im looking for suggestion's to other component's, answer's about where the 2 pin power switch/reset switch/HDD led goes. And if anyone could tell me if the 2 pin power switch was compatible with the motherboard i chose that would be great, a friend of mine said it would work but, gotta be sure. Any input is welcomed.

The Intel Core i7-4790K-$327.27
Or
The Intel Core i7-5960X-$1,049.99

Both Of These Are Great.

Its not often I say this but please shut up.

OP:

A simplified list of things we need to know when you request a PC build. If you don't answer these questions, we will ask them or simply refer you to this post.

What is your budget and currency? (Pound sign does not work normally, use GBP abbreviation)
Do you need a monitor?
Do you need a keyboard?
Do you need a mouse?
Do you need an operating system?
What will you use the PC for?

& current specs.

This is so off topic and I haven't even read anything yet, apart from the first comment but I'm laughing so hard, you wouldn't even believe. He legitimately suggested a 4790k and 5960x as if they were similarly specced CPU's. I swear to jebus, I squealed so loud, I think I might be a guinea pig.

Edit- Okay, read it all now. OP- Yeah, I can't understand what exactly you're looking for. Answer Xigyy and we can help better. Download Speccy and post a screenshot for us and make sure to list your PSU, make and model.

Well... This is why you came here right, for advice.

We will give it to you but for that, you need to answer simple questions without which, we will be no help at all.

The minimum: budget & currency?

I need:

A motherboard. preferably between $0 - $110

And a decent Processor that will fit with the motherboard. If it had an Fm2 Socket that would be great. Between $0 - $130

And if anyone knows about any form of 2 pin connectors from a case to the motherboard for power switches or reset switches. id like to know what the sockets are called.

Firstly, Intel beats AMD unless you have a very tight budget, in which case, you should grab an FM2+ APU. Yes, you have a budget. Everyone has a budget. Don't buy components one at a time, you will end up with an unbalanced rig, unless you're buying within a short space of time. You haven't listed all of your specs, you haven't listed a budget, or even a currency and you haven't told us what you're looking to upgrade other than CPU and mobo. If you don't want help, that's fine.

I would then get a new case, probably the N200

Along with a GPU since you haven't mentioned one yet.

And work you way up from there.

Your looking for front panel connectors. They come with the case and plug into the motherboard. There practically impossible to loose so if yours dint come with one, its probably better in the bin.

Xigyy u poo, beat me to it. OP-Was going to suggest the exact same as Xigyy already has.

Also- we don't know what PSU you have, it could be absolute shit. If so, it's worth upgrading immediately.
