Hello,

My name's Jake and I'm having some computer problems. I'm hoping one of you can help. I appreciate any assistance.

I record a lot of videos for my YouTube channel. Lately I've been receiving an error on my recordings. The video file is perfectly normal. I can open and watch whatever I recorded. However, every now and then a file(s) randomly goes to 0 bytes. It's as if there's no file. I don't do anything to the file. The file was perfectly fine, but randomly goes to 0 bytes.

For example, I was editing today video. Everything was going well. I renderd out the video, but it was a little dark, so I went back into Sony Vegas to render the video again and I was missing some files. One of the video files went to 0 bytes. It was working perfectly all day, but randomly decided to go to 0 bytes.

When this error happens on my gaming/ facecam videos I see the thumbnail of whatever I filmed. It looks fine, but it is not.

Message me if you can help please. Thank you!

Maybe this is a problem with Sony Vegas.
Try to completely shut off your computer for overnight, then open it back up and open up sony vegas a try to render the video, and see if that works.

Also, try going to your computers files, go to the folder where the file is located, right click on it and go to properties. Here you can see how much space it takes up.

This error also happens to files that are untouched. Files I haven't edited yet.

Have you checked your libraries for a duplicate of what you're looking for? It's not unknown for a file to sometimes duplicate itself and leave a zero byte file in its former place.

The previous poster is likely correct that the issue is isolate to your video software.
