Things To Consider Before Buying a JTAG/RGH

Okay so it has come to my attention that there has been a lot of threads of people saying How can i mod MW2 when i get my RGH" or "I bought an RGH, how do i mod". I'm hoping to clear a few of these up and spread some knowledge whilst i do it.

Categories
I have decided to do it in categories as hopefully it will make the thread easier and clearer to understand:

    - What Can i Use a JTAG/RGH For?
    - Information about Mods/Modding With A JTAG/RGH
    - What do I need to know before purchasing one?
    - Where can I get one?

What Can i Use a JTAG/RGH For?
Okay so a big problem with the modding community now is people seem to thing that a JTAG/RGH is just your key to becoming a l33t hax 1337. Well I'm here to tell you that it isn't. JTAG/RGH consoles are so much more than just modding tools, they give you almost full access to the console and you can use the console to it's full potential to your advantage. JTAG/RGH consoles can be used for a wide variety of things, here is just a few of the things they can be used for;

-Emulators
-Free Games
-Modding
-Customization (Freestyle dash etc)
-Access to things you couldn't normally access
-Running unsigned code
-Testing out self creations like Mod menus or modding tools
-And a whole lot more!

If your thinking about buying a console just for modding, save yourself some money and let it go to someone who will use it to its full potential. If you do just wanna mod, buy a console with a flashed drive so you can use ISO mods or just hotswap.

Information about Mods/Modding With A JTAG/RGH

As stated earlier, modding with a JTAG/RGH isnt as simple as you would think. You cant just get a RGH, download your profile onto it, hop online and mod. There is a lot more time, money and effort that goes into it than that. Here is a list of everything you will need to get online:

JTAG/RGH Console - Price changes
Online Time (Stealth) - $5 - $20 a day
Key Vaults - $10-$20 ( usually have to purchase every 1-3 days)

As you can see it isn't that cheap. Nor is it easy to setup either. Sure there are ,many tutorials all over the web and on YouTube. But when you first start modding, its gonna take a little while to get the hang of it. Not to mention the shady people you will meet when trying to purchase the above items.

What do I need to know before purchasing one?

First things first, you need to make sure youi ahve done your research, one wrong move with your JTAG/RGH and you could have your console bricked. There are a few basic things you need to know about JTAG/RGH consoles before buying one.

- You need to know the basics of consoles and console modifications.
- You need to know about applications and unsigned code which will run on your RGH
- If your looking to mod, then you also need to know the basics of modding.
- Basic PC skills as you will be using a PC a lot.

Some things that may help you:

- Basic programming knowledge
- Learning about the console and how everything works.

Once you know about some of this stuff, your all set to go. Don't just buy one expecting it to be easy, because take it from me. These consoles are a pain in the ass when it comes to errors and mistakes.

- Where can I get one?

There are many places you can buy JTAG/RGH consoles, some places more dodgy than others.

Places you should never really buy consoles from:

-Skype/AIM contacts
-Youtube
-Random Websites (Do your research first)

Places You could buy from:

-Trusted Websites (Do research about the sites, wont post links as don't want to break any rules)
-Forum sites if the user has aot of vouches.
-eBay (RGH/JTAG consoles are against there TOS though so you may not be covered under eBay money back guarantee.)

I hope this guide helps, if you spot any errors or would like to see something added either PM me or comment below. I will be adding more as i think of more but I'm In a bit of a rush so here is what I have got so far. If the thread did help you in anyway a Thanks is always appreciated
