You shouldn't be banned, they don't really have any way of monitoring it unless the game save syncs stats to xbox live and has some type of leaderboards(an example is CoD4, you could score points in campaign and get ranked), but even then most people haven't been banned. I've used and abused 'modded' game saves for a while now and have received no bans because of them.

For gamesaves, no you should not be banned. It is hard to get banned for those but it is always a risk.

.GPD modding is different than gamesaves.
.GPD tampers with the account data and is easier for Microsoft to catch.

Yea I think of save game mods as usb mods and .GPD was usb so that's why I said that, but really it depends what your modding. And how your modding values.
