My friend just got GTA for free on Xbox One, he came online and it was in his games and apps downloading and when it downloaded it was the full game and letting him play it. He didn't buy it digitally or the disc. He had it on previous gen. But is there any explanation for this?

Someone in his household also has an xbox ones who owns the digital version.
