So I've just finished building my first PC, and I've encountered a problem, that I cannot connect to the internet using a USB wireless adapter, I'm using an ethernet cable at the moment, but can't stay like this as it's nowhere near my room. I think it's because it needs some sort of driver, but I bought it so long ago that I'm not sure if I've lost the driver disk or if it even came with one. I don't even know the manufacturer of it, which makes things worse because I go to their website. Could anyone help?

While you are plugged in with your Ethernet cable you could try going into the device manager then under Network Adapters see if you can find the USB Wireless adapter, then you can right click the adapter and try to update the driver.

When I go into the device manager, under Network Adapters I can see "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller", which isn't my USB adapter, although under Other Devices I can see "802.11 n WLAN", it has the yellow triangle as if it needs troubleshooting, it says it needs a driver, but when it searches for a driver it can't find any and exits the troubleshooter

There should be a Driver disc that was included with the adapter, have you tried installing them from the disc?

Does the adapter have any markings on it? Model numbers, manufacturer etc.

There probably was a disk, I probably threw it away

No model numbers, no manufacturer name, nothing, just a standard black USB with an antenna

Simple explanation as to how you should be able to identify the make and model from the device ID in device manager.

Like Kyle93 said find out your specific make and model of the wireless adapter then you should be able to manually download the drivers from online.
