Ok so this subject got me because I work in McDonalds... I'm only 16 and in college at the moment and hoping to go onto uni with goals to earn big money in the future. But, people see this job as "embarrassing" and frowned upon? Personally, I'm pretty happy at my age to have a job which will see me through the end of university.

The main problem is those under educated unemployed people that are like "Haha ew wouldn't work there"... Reality is that beggars can't be choosers and infact they most likely won't employ you, I work alongside people who already have their degrees and because of the countries state in employment they can't get a high paid job even with their qualifications sadly forcing them to work here to make money. But this small 'rant' is just a shoutout to those who go out and work for their own money instead of just having the generic attitude of "Oh I'll get it off my parents and get a job when I'm older"

Just want to know peoples opinions about this situation... Thanks guys

Nothing wrong with working for McDonalds.

A little secret, McDonalds train their staff EXTREMELY well, if you go for a job and mention the diverse circumstances you've been in whilst working there, it really will make an impression on your potential employers.

Only reason I know this is because I worked there for 7 months and really enjoyed it, now I have a much better job but will never forget the discipline and routine I learned there.

Having a job at 16 is great! Especially when you're still at college and working towards university. When people mock you or say derogatory things ask them what they're doing as a job. When they can't reply or say nothing. Just say. Exactly.

Tbh it doesn't really matter what other people think, I personally wouldn't work in mcdonalds but I don't frown upon people who do, and if your getting paid and they're not, then they're idiots for taking the piss out of you.

That's just stereotypical idiotic people mate, unfortunately the world is full of them. Nothing is wrong with doing any job, I personally wouldn't work in a fast food place but I see no difference between a fast food worker and anyone else.

If anything I have more respect for those who work in fast food chains than I would as to someone who worked in an office, You guys run around like headless chickens trying to complete peoples order and then get mocked for doing so, Its pathetic and damn right childish!

I would go insane working in such a small space with multiple people. Every restaurant I have ever been too has at least 5 people in the kitchen area type thing (drive through & counters) and then another couple at the back doing the actual cooking plus one sometimes two running back and forth to the waiting bay thingy (you know what I mean). takes some real patients and commitment.

I salute you good sir, and fast food employees around the globe.

Pretty much just hit the nail on the head right there.

Personally, I have never had a job except charity work and some little jobs around and current job I have now is temporary. I still do not insult people were they work. People say "Being the bin-man is a horrible job" well believe it or not, there pay is quite good! I'd happily do it, sadly they wont accept me. I have 12 qualifications and still cannot find a job!
