For my media course work i have to produce a magazine front cover, contents page and a double page spread.
Most of the people in my class havent even heard of photoshop, so im looking to impress my teacher

Font cover;

(some of the riders are BMX riders as originally, i was going to do a BMX mag but decided otherwise.)

Contents;

(Havent put the photo credits on yet)

Spread;

(This is a double page spread,A3.
Ive made a logo that goes in the top left of the page that is a 'Shred for gold', a comp i made thats similar to 'Ride for glory'.
Im thinking of putting text at the bottom left of the page on an angle (?) and leaving the right side as just an image.
Any ideas what i could write about?)

Nothing is finished yet, but i want to get someones feedback and what i can include/improve on.
Lemme know what you think please guys.

Front Cover:
On the front cover I personally don't like the uses of the red and blue over the wide use of black and grays

Contents
The text in the bottom right of the page doesn't fit too well either, Other than that it seems to be good

Spread
The logo doesn't really have a clean "Transition" towards the image, you could add some more features as you mentioned and that may even it out

Overall = 7/10 | I like the idea you are going for and the magazine features

The render around the guys hair is chunky and stands out.

Unbelievably bland.
A front page should pop and pull your eyes away from others in competition.

The image in the second one is really really bad quality.

There is more colour in the word "START" than the rest of the magazine put together.

To work on -

Fonts
Colours
Use of space
Rednering
Quality of image

with the word start, I decided to put more colour so that it would stand out from the rest? say if you were flicking through the magazine and you saw that page it might grab your attention?
with the front page, apart from sorting out the picture what do you suggest I should do to make it less bland?
thanks for your feed back man

Research, research is always the key.

Check out some other Skating Magazine designs.
See what they do on their covers.
See if there is a trend.

Is the text done in a certain way?
Are things placed in certain areas?
What magazine content should be on the front?
How many fonts are used?

Yeah, in school we had to do research and we compiled this A3 booklet. we had to do surveys and stuff about the target audience.
I took a lot of inspiration from RideUk bmx magazine for the front cover.
Again, thank you so much for the help aa)
