Soo decided to do a clean, simple youtube banner for heck of it lol!

It's alright, but all you did was use an effect from a graphics pack and put text over it, when I imagine a simple, clean design, it's more something like this:

2D designed banners don't go well with "3D stocks" you could call them, make a banner without stuff like 3D in the back work more with abstract 2D shapes

I like the overall style of this, but the white/gray text on a white/gray background makes it hard to read and therefore I would change that.

I would also stay away from graphics packs as they do not teach you anything.
