That is just the amount of people who have filed complaints with the corporate Apple offices, the amount of iPhones that have bent are probably much larger than the figure they have put out. Apple just wants to cover up themselves as if they had to recall all these phones their companies stock would go down, trust level with consumers would go down, profits go down. Without consumers you have no company, it's not logical for them to give a realistic number.
