Simply put, i have my processor, and that cooler, etc (the parts in my motto) and i'm wondering how to overclock. It's a dumb question, i know, but i'm new to Overclocking and i want to know how to do it, limits, etc.

Any help is appreciated, and, as always, i'll rep anyone who helps!

Have a watch through this.

Although its the older gen CPU, its still a Haswell chip so the advice will still be the same. You should be able to push yours further since the TIM under the heatspreader has been changed.

I personally dont have any experice OC'ing on Haswell but im sure others have and they will have input.

You can go higher even with a decent air cooler.

you need to run a benchmarking program to see if your stable or not.

If your not stable, its probably because you need more volts.

^ Myself I use prime95 to stress test the CPU but you will need to ensure the CPU is stable under load and it keeps cool also. More voltage will be needed to reach higher clock speeds but it also means more heat generated. You need to be very careful when changing the voltage as you could damage the CPU setting it too high.

EDIT: I tested it with IBT:

Over the last few hours, i have been tweaking and such, and the highest i can get with a successful boot it 4181.23MHZ,

It's not awfully hot, i don't think, my highest recorded being 67C, so it's stable, especially according to IBT itself, i think ill stick with this clock.

I've been playing around with this new, faster speed, and it's such a noticeable performance boost with the 4.1ghz over the 3.5, it's amazing.

And also, my air cooler is very good, i have a Phanteks TC14PE, its a dual tower with massive heatsinks and two fans, plus my case and fans give it amazing airflow, so i really wanna see how far i can push it

Knowing that now, my Multiplier being 38 and my Base Clock at 102, how much farther should i push it? Intel's Turbo boost says up to 3.9ghz, but can i go higher? Should i? What voltage should i set? What voltage should i set for higher clock speeds? Should i try and push it more?
