so as the title states I'm a mac user, i have a 27inch desktop which i got around 3 years ago, i am not even remotely technically inclined when it comes to computers as you guys can already tell by me using a mac. I've had no problems with it, she's asked everything I've needed of her and runs smoothly but of course there as numerous limitation with them. i am wanted to build a good gaming pc that i can sit parallel to my mac and can use them interchangeably until i either give my mac up, sell it, or its breaks down. if anyone could help or at least point me in the right direction i would be extremely grateful, I'm looking for a set up around 600 bucks but i wouldn't mind spending a few extra bucks if it was a noticeable increase in performance so please pc users, I'm i'll be forever in your debt

thanks but this maybe be two really stupid questions.
1) whats an overlock
2)are these compacts coming in parts and having to manually assemble it or are they being assembled at the place using the parts i'll be purchasing

I'd get something like this;

On a tight budget, there's no beating a Pentium G3258. Z97 chipset motherboard allows for overclocking and upgradeability to either an i5 or i7 in the future. 1TB HDD will suffice, as will 8GB RAM. Enthoo Pro is a beautiful case and totally worth the money. R9 280 is the best you'll get within your budget and is a great GPU. XFX make great quality PSU's and 550W is more than enough. If you get a little more cash, add an SSD for faster boot/load times.

1) Overclocking is pushing the hardware faster than it is from the factory. For example, My CPU came to me at 3.5GHz (clock frequency). I have then, with an aftermarket cooler, adjusted a few variables in the BIOS to get 4.4GHz which has speed up a few tasks like rendering.
2) They come in individual boxes ready for you to assemble them, which is the fun part
