I did not practice at all with my permit and when I took the drive test I got a 96.

Here in Colorado you have to have like 50 hours behind the wheel and like 10 of those being at night. Just look up what the state requirements are in NY because I think they are different everywhere.

Legal is 6 months. I practiced for about a month really though, you could learn how to drive good in a week if you really wanted to.

Check your state laws.
For California you have to have, I think 20-30 hours. If you're under 18, you need 6 hours of professional training.
You also have to wait 6 months.
If you're asking how do you know when you're ready? You're ready when you feel safe and good at driving
yeah in new york thats what you have to do except for the pro training
