I have a few family members who are police officers. I do respect cops but some abuse their "power" making them just flat out assholes.

Firemen don't get hate because if they were to set a fire just to respond to it, nobody would be there videoing them doing it, and all of the evidence would be burned away because that's what fire does. I realize that you're just saying that there are corrupt people in every profession, but yeah..

You have to also bear in mind that there are going to be cases where police are being corrupt, but nobody is filming it, people don't always think quickly enough to turn on their camera, or better yet, intervene and try to stop it.

When it comes to the military, I dislike when people say they are fighting for my freedom.
If a country was trying to invade my country with the intention of enslaving everyone, then they could add 'freedom fighter' to their accolades, at the moment they are at most 'terrorist stoppers' and at the very least, 'hired thugs.' I don't feel like I should have to respect someone for choosing to take a job which actively lets them kill people, I would much rather think of doctors and nurses as heroes along with teachers. This doesn't mean that I hate the military, I just don't like being told I have to respect them.

Overall, there are people in every profession who suck, unfortunately the police is one of them. People complain about the police, but they never say what they would want in their place. No police? I think we all know how that would turn out. The way I see it, if you can't offer a better alternative to a problem, there's no point in complaining about it.

To be fair, the soldiers aren't fighting to keep me free. Soldiers were fighting for freedom in WW2, but this is different. We were attacked once in 2001, not invaded like Germany was doing to Europe or constantly bombed like the Japanese did with Pearl Harbor. Our freedom wasn't in danger. Though, it seems like we are fighting for the freedom of other countries.

I don't hate the soldiers for killing the "enemy", but I do criticize how they do it at times. I don't think drones are ok to use while on offense (unless the situation was dire.) Smashing innocent people with bombs because people can't get intel on the people on the ground should be a criminal offense. I understand accidents, but they have taken it to another level. That video that Bradley Manning leaked was also pretty disgusting. Soldiers asking and nearly begging to kill people while in a AC-130. That feeling of invincibility makes people monsters, which is why I am against drone use unless it is a dire situation (and maybe if they were more accurate at killing only the enemy than an airstrike.)

How about private military contractors like Blackwater? Just wondering if you find what they do ok. Like, how they threatened one of our guys with death but nothing happens and we still contract them. How they can harm and kill innocent people and yet we still contract them.

Now, are all military officers bad? Of course not. I'm just saying the system is heavily flawed currently. Just like cops, I do respect the uniform, but the individuals still have to earn that respect. They don't just get it by having the uniform on. The WW2 soldiers do since a majority were drafted. These soldiers signed up. If you signed up yourself, be responsible or prepare for criticism (and maybe more if our country didn't worship them.)

People hate on cops for a big reason (imo). They think they are above the law and don't know it. Most cops are good, I'll agree but there are cops that don't know the 1st amendment and so on. I have never heard of someone hating on the military, you just don't do that period. Police Officers should go under testing about laws every year to make sure they are "fit", so not as many accidents occur.

The bad which some officers have done is highlighted in the media and never the good.
Therefore, people judge the behaviour of those handful of bad officers and label the whole of the force.

You're right its horrible to see people disrespecting people who risk there lives for them however they're disrespect comes from some where there's usaly a reason whether its a valid one or not is a different story

What you're misunderstanding about some people who don't particularly agree with the military's involvement in other countries' affairs, is that it's not a matter of disrespecting the soldiers and military itself, it is simply the people putting them in the situation.
Our world leaders often show militant action where it isn't even due.

I agree with you on certain aspects. I would never hate on our military because they are just pawns of our governments wishes. Our officials will never do the fighting, they will just send 1000's of troops to die for them and possibly get a message across. Police officers are not all bad too. I know many of them, and they are cool guys. The 100 you hear being bad on the news or on youtube, do not compare to the amount that actually work in each country. 1000's are enrolled as an officer. Dont blame them all because of one incident. Thats childish and immature.
