xMercii wrote Am I the only one that has no trust in cops anymore. Every day more and more cops shoot more innocent people or pets for no reason. They give out tickets because they feel like it, they think they can do whatever they want. One of them just shot a lab in a van claiming it was a "Vicious Pitbull that lunged at him and was scared for his life". Are you serious, if you can't tell the difference between a lab and a pitbull you should not be able to drive, own a gun, or be a cop period. They shoot people for no reason more and more, and they get away with it. They think there above the law. *I know not all are like this, but there are more and more out there every week*. Saw this comment in a article, "Definition of Badge License to Kill."

I saw that video about the small lab.

Disgusting, the bog eyed cop doesn't deserve his badge, a lab that size is NOT a threat to a human life, and besides the windows in the van where halfway up preventing the dog from getting out.

Some cops are just crooks who carry badges.

I don't trust cops because I don't trust the government. Everything and anything the government tells me goes in one ear and out the other in a heartbeat. I'm sure their are plenty of good cops out there that are doing their job right by following the constitution, but I have yet to see or hear about one of those around here in Orange County.

Every time, literally EVERY time, me or people I know are encountered by the police, they have done nothing but break the law and ignore our rights. Always get searched without a warrant, they never say their name or show their badge, never read us our rights, always demand we show ID, confiscate things from them, and so forth.

Cops are the worst gang in America in my opinion.

Bad things which have happened as a result of police officers are highlighted in the media and talked about frequently, never the good things are shown.
The positives out weigh the negatives but people seem to judge all officers because of a select few which may abuse their powers.

Not all police are bad.

You're not a cop so you don't know what kind of things cops are put through. You have never been in a situation as a cop, they have lives and have families. They are worried just as much as anyone else. The accidental shootings are so swayed and lied about on tv because the media does not tell you the truth. You seem like one of those 14 year olds who think it is cool to hate police. You really learn to appreciate cops when they have actually been there to save your life. Not all cops are bad people, just like not all Christians are good people.

My distrust of most cops came when cops came into my house and stole my cousin's money out of his wallet. I understand that not all are bad, but I can't help but feel that a majority are corrupted or don't care to stop corruption. Killing dogs that aren't harming no one, beating women in the middle of a highway, and killing people for an altercation that could have been solved with a taser or pepper spray is not ok to me. SWAT teams also seem like a problem. I heard some SWAT teams label themselves as a private corporation, meaning that they can deny open records requests. I think there is a huge mess that needs fixing. I totally respect the uniform but not that many of the people that wear them.

At the end of the day, the police are there to protect you. Yes okay, they slip up but how many times have they helped you?

Where I live, just outside London, when I see Police, I feel protected.

I know that if I need help, a quick 999 call is all i need to do and that's a big relief

TSNYC wrote Let's not make generalizations and judge a whole group of people by the actions of a few that are in the minority.

There are good and bad police officers just like there is good and bad people in every group, race, religion etc.

You shouldn't judge the actions of a few bad individuals and assume everyone else is like that.

Thank you, TSNYC.

I have a personal bias because my father was a police officer, but (retired now) he never did any of the things mentioned above to anyone without reason to do so. Not all cops are bad, you apparently are just basing your post off of the bad ones.
